Adding more layouts...I haven't updated in ages!

I have another blog that I started way before this one and have been remiss in updating for ages. For some reason I don't find it as user-friendly (errrr...maybe operator error lol) and don't have the time to spare. My CTMH business has grown in the last few months and have had some illness in the family so not much time to devote as I needed. But, I'll see if it can get easier.
With that, here are a few of the latest layouts completed:

I had the pleasure of attending the CTMH Regionals near St. Louis MO in early November and on Saturday we made several layouts and cards. Below are some of the layouts that I was able to use thus far for my own photos:

This one used Everlasting papers, Dimensional Elements and one of the Foundry Frames. I rubbed Desert Sand ink over the frame with my brayer to age it up some. We also received some of the Holiday Ribbon Rounds (among lots of other goodies!) so they are added as well as the Stamp set (name escapes me for the moment and don't have book handy lol...will update later). The photos were from the Christmas 2003 (see also the Magical Christmas layout posted earlier) when we were at D.'s parents' house before the Pantomime. Pictured next to us are D.'s two children and his parents on the right layout. What lovely people. I had met them before when I visited England in June 2003 and they made me feel so welcome right away. Unfortunately, D.'s father passed away in May and his mother had a massive stroke a couple of months ago, but was released from the hospital on Monday and is currently staying at one of D.'s sister's house since she can't live on her own. I digress...sorry.

This layout is actually one I used from a CTMH Workshop and from the Cherish How-To program using Enchanted papers and (insert stamp set name here lol). I used the faux leather technique on the Honey CS pieces (excluding the photo mats). The pictures are of my nutty dear husband racing...although it was actually a "practice day" that I was able to attend while I visited in June 2003. One of the things I must say about D....he loves to LIVE so he seemed perfect for this layout.
Here is one of my own creations, but of course based on a Cherish template (the first two pages). I recently discovered the joys of TrueFit Folios! I LOVE these things. There were quite a few pictures as well as a newspaper article for the photos used with these layouts, from a Charity run D. participated in while he was working for FedEx in England. It was a motorcycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats and was quite a feat. The newspaper article isn't all that pleasing to the eye, but very important so the Folios worked perfectly with this....and I loved that I got a 4-page layout in the space of only 2! I just trimmed the sides of a page protector and slid it over the top layout upside down so it will lift up to reveal the other two layouts (one on top of the other). You can see it in the last picture. (The blank blue cardstock piece in the 3rd picture is awaiting journaling from dear husband!!! lol)
I used the Majestic Blue papers with coordinating My Stickease and some Outdoor Denim ribbon. I didn't want to use too much more since it was jam-packed already!

Below is another layout completed at Regionals and used for some of my stepson's pictures. He's a racing fanatic too. *sigh* These were taken a week before he had a big crash and hurt himself pretty badly. He hasn't raced since....but have heard he's got the bug to try it in the US again. *another sigh*
These were the Free Spirit papers with coordinating My Stickease and (insert name here) Stamp set. In case you haven't noticed, I'm awful at trying to remember the names of stamp sets! I'm trying to hurry here though so I can get back to scrapbooking some more this evening. lol

Another Free Spirit layout completed at Regionals with the coordinating My Stickease, a few Just Blooms for accents along with the Twill Stickstock (love that, hadn't used it before yet), but used for some pictures from a little trip D. and I took with some good friends to southern Illinois. D. caught his first catfish that day and had to show his prize to L, even though he and his wife had settled in for a nap.
Also pictured is our little baby, Dinky. Trying to keep the background story short, I sent Dinky (a Beanie Baby duck) to D. when we were "dating" online as a joke, since D. loves ducks. For some reason, he was tickled by him and ended up taking him EVERYWHERE with him, while he was dispatch riding and when he came to the US for visits. He took pictures of he and Dinky and they were hilarious...sure to be included in some layouts soon. So, we decided to continue the tradition since he seems to enjoy his outings so much. lol
Well, that's it for today. This has taken ages to do and as I said I want to get back to scrapbooking for the night. I need to finish up a couple of layouts I'm nearly done with and plan a couple of others.
That's all for now and will try to be back soon!

Magical Christmas

What a Christmas it was in 2003! D. bought an airplane ticket for me to visit him in England so away I went! The ONLY bad thing was, I caught an awful flu (by the timing and the hacking Frenchman next to me on the plane, my guess is I caught it on the flight over!). I was sooooo sick until my visit was nearly over...then D. caught it!!! He still just refused to disappoint me though and as soon as I was up to it we were out and about.

This layout are pictures from when he and his family took me to my first Pantomime, Cinderella. He and his family go to one of these very popular events in England every year. His Mum was so sweet to include me; his whole family is great. I could tell by some of the pictures he still felt very ill...he was so sweet to just get through it regardless.

I used the True Fit Folios to tuck our tickets and the program behind the layout. I LOVE those things; you can put your layout right on it and since it's like a file folder your memorabilia is put inside and right there when you want to read them. I just did some random stamping, swiping, a little chalking and dry embossing for some extra touches, along with the side anchors for the ribbon. I also made a tag to match because I just can't stand much spare space!!! LOL

I really have to do something about getting my easel to take better pictures of my layouts. At least I have kept them from being so darned fuzzy!

Anyway...even though I was sick as a dog much of the time, it was a Christmas to remember! Magical....

Mail for daughter today!

Yay! DD received not only her Welcome To The USA letter for her green card but she also received her Social Security card in the mail today! She was so happy she gave me a big hug! Her green card should be received in the next few weeks (according to the notice) but she has her work authorization card already so it's no big deal (besides, I would like to get SOME use out of the work authorization!!! LOL). Oh, well, we had no idea how long her green card would take to get (luckily her files were transferred to the California service center instead of having to wait on the Chicago District Office) so it was one of those things you have to do or take the chance of waiting forever!

Hubby and DS22's biometrics appointments for their 10-year green card are on Saturday the 29th so *hopefully* their cards will be here shortly afterward (since theirs have been transferred to California also). Fingers crossed there are no Requests for Further Evidence after that! They at least have their extension letters for their 2-year cards but it is a pain having that big old thing to carry around. Besides, I would like to be done with this for a little while...until next year when hubby can apply for citizenship.

DD was ecstatic to learn hers will be a 10-year card from the start; we had to explain hubby's and DS22's cards were only the 2-year ones since we were married less than 2 years when they got their green cards in 2005. I'm sure she will be rubbing it in to her brother! LOL

I'm glad she decided to stay when she visited earlier this year. Had she waited much longer she would have turned 21 and it would have been a bit different. This way was a piece of cake, comparitively!
Even better news...I got a return message from my granddaughter's mother!!!! She was happy to hear from me after I was finally able to track her down and I should be able to see my lil granddaughter sometime soon! Yipppeeeeee!!!! She's going to send me some pictures too; I can't wait.

That about sums up my excitement for the day....but it was a good day! It doesn't take much to excite me anymore!

My baby is getting married!!!!

Ok, ok, he's not a baby, he is almost 28. Long painful story short, I was finally able to speak to him today after I got the news he has met someone that he wants to marry! Unfortunately, it's next month and the weekend I already have a scrapbooking party booked! ARGH! The scrapbooking party is on Sunday; he's marrying on Las Vegas! They are going to finalize details tonight so tomorrow I hope to get some firm plans from them. I can then see the feasibility of our going and returning in time for my previous commitment. I will be SO sad if I can't go. But, we can always take a trip to IA and see them both and welcome my new daughter to the family in person.

I spoke to her (on the phone) tonight too and she seems so sweet and nice. I can't wait to meet her; I just hope it's at the wedding! DS28 is also supposed to get my grandson (who lives in Hawaii with his mother) for the summer so I might even get to see the little guy again!!!! YAY!!!! I finally got some recent pictures. *sigh* It's painful seeing them grow up through pictures.

Daddy's Girl

Last of my layouts with the Caprice set for now....time to move on! Still playing with the distressing kit, also more paper rolling and random stamping. I'm so glad DH found the pics I wanted to add. Still having problems with this darned camera and fuzzy pics. It surely can't be the picture-taker. (haha)

Various thoughts....

Well, perhaps the weather will improve. The sun was at long last out again today having had rain or cloudy skies for nearly a week. Is it a coincidence that it began when DH's ex-wife came to America to visit DS22 and DD? Perhaps, but all I can say is...the bad weather arrived when she did and she left town today. It's supposed to be pretty cool for the next few days and through the weekend (40's tonight!!!!). Darned Canadian fronts. Our wedding anniversary is next Monday so was hoping for a bit of warmth still so we could go camping or some-such. We'll see. One thing about weather in Illinois: if you don't like it hang around a couple of hours cuz it's sure to change.

Found out today that we're getting $135.00 check from Ameren. Not too shabby! This is due to the litigation/agreement a while back. They had a rate freeze for the past ten years and people got a bit grumpy when their rates doubled at the beginning of the year. Supposedly credits will be forthcoming (not sure of the rates though) through 2009. I don't know what they wasn't such a great idea to have a rate freeze for 10 years and expect them to NOT double rates when it expired! I've thought my stinkin' natural gas bills have been worse than the electrical. I about died a few years ago when I opened my bill one month! It came down to dying from freezing to death or of a heart attack when you opened your bill.

Still no luck finding all those darned pictures DH has done something with. He *thinks* he knows where a lot of them are...I have asked him to find them as soon as he can. I certainly put that the wrong's hard telling when THAT will be! Perhaps I had best plan on doing some other layouts with different photos! I hate to move on without finishing them...besides I wanted to include them in my newsletter for a workshop so maybe I can put a bit of urgency in my next request without sounding like a *ahem* nag. The GOOD news is while searching the attic I found my large Xyron laminator!!!! Yahhhhhooooooo! I have been going crazy trying to find that so that was a very very very good thing.

Well, next visitor arrives next Monday (wedding anniversary...great planning...NOT!) and hopefully we'll be done for the year. It's been so busy around here! We've had family and friends visiting from England and they're still not done invading us! This visitor is for DD so we doubt we'll see them much anyway! DD finally received her work authorization...YAY!!!! Not great timing again, since her friend is about to visit, but nothing to be done about that. Next up is to get a Social Security Number, bank account, driver's license (GULP) and car (GULP GULP). Oh, well, all necessary so that she can get on with her life! She's been stuck in limbo for a while since arriving here in January so it will probably be a welcome relief.

That about sums up what's going on in my head at the moment.

Caprice Layouts

I adore the new CTMH papers released this fall! I decided to work with Caprice first; I never dreamed I would like working with the color Honey! I like how it coordinates with this set though. I decided to use it for any September gatherings and to feature my nutty hubby in this layout. He is so funny and always makes me laugh so I chose a few pictures that bring a smile to my face and are special memories.

The first two pictures are of hubby when he still lived in England. He sent these pictures to me that he took while he was at one of the locks on the canal...his favorite place. The other two are ones I took of him when he first came to the US and we met in person for the first time! We stayed at Lazy Cloud in Lake Geneva WI...soooooo romantic and it was a perfect setting. These pics were taken on the deck of our suite....he was being silly as usual jumping up on the railing. :) Gotta love him.

I chose the titles since they are words to one of my favorite songs by Fleetwood Mac, "You Make Loving Fun". It seemed to fit. I printed out the lyrics and tucked them in the little Coluzzle file folder on the left layout. The stamp set was Sensational Seals, the coordinating set featured in the Idea Book and the titles and doodles are from Doodle Alphabet, the September Stamp of the Month. I *love* that set!

I'm having a heck of a time with this digital layout photos keep turning out fuzzy! Ugh!

Let's Get Together Layouts

Another one of my faves! I love these Let's Get Together papers. I thought that hubby's and kids' recent trip to the Mackinaw River was a great choice for this fun set. Chris had never been there yet and they had a BLAST fishing and swimming in this hot hot hot weather.

Floral Tapestry Layouts

Definitely one of my favorite CTMH paper sets is the Floral Tapestry papers. It coordinated so well with the old ancestry pictures that I cherish so much.
I used paper crumpling, stitching and ink distressing and used some Just Blooms and Chocolate Waxy Flax, along with My Stickease.

Saturday, September 1, 2007 in the blogworld!

I may be nearly 50 (eek!) but having found my way around a computer for years I am befuddled why it took me so long to begin a "real" blog. I had one on xanga but wanted a blog devoted to scrapbooking, cardmaking, stamping and techniques. So I have moved in....there goes the neighborhood! :)

Yay! Visitors :)
